The PolyID^® products transmit their information by means of radio technology. PolyID^® is subdivided into systems for straightforward presence detection and systems for identification. The thin, flexible and inexpensively produced RFID tags, thanks to the printing process involved, do not require their own power supply, since they are provided with energy via radio wirelessly.

With presence detection, the special reader recognizes that a tag is located within the reading range. The tags are used in such fields as presence control and anti-theft protection.

Where identification is concerned, the product code is communicated between tag and reader. The first products have a memory capacity of several bit and are constantly being upgraded in subsequent generations, right down to the electronic product code (EPC^TM), with which each product in the logistics chain can be clearly identified.
