Occhio lamps controlled with PolyTC® film proximity switches

In April 2012, German lamp manufacturer Occhio GmbH presented their new ìo 3d lamp series at the Light+Building exhibition in Frankfurt am Main.

The extraordinary design of this lighting system is combined with a remarkable new and innovative control concept. The lights are controlled using simple, intuitive hand gestures without needing to touch the lamps. The light can be dimmed or brightened by moving your hand in the proximity of the lamp head. A quicker hand gesture near the lamp head switches the lamp on or off.

These non-contact controls were made possible by the employment of PolyIC's transparent, conductive PolyTC® films. PolyTC® film is integrated in the lamp head lenses and acts as a sensor for gesture-based controls. Using the proximity effect, approaching hands are detected and the movement translated into the appropriate command.

The ìo 3d lamps can be obtained from specialist shops. Occhio is one of the most successful lighting products of recent years. This multifunctional and modular system is unique on the lighting market. For further information, please go to www.occhio.de.

PolyIC will be presenting functions and films using these lamps on the 20th and 21st June 2012 on stand B0.116 at the LOPE-C exhibition in Munich.
